The recent news of my Alexander von Humboldt professorship comes with positions for junior researchers. Since I am still negotiating with my future university in Mainz, the official ads will come later this year. How many, and of which career stages, is not 100% clear yet, but what I know already is that several postdoctoral theoretician positions will be on offer and should you be a bit older or younger career-wise, it’s worth getting in touch too. Namely: my answer to the ‘how to divide the money among career stages’ question will depend on my estimate on what sort of early career people are on the market right now.
Therefore I’d say get in touch already now, should the vibrant future ‘theoretical eco-evo hub’ in Mainz sound appealing to you. It’ll be an exciting place I think. The idea is that there will be more senior people visiting too, plenty of workshops can be organized, undergrad/MSc teaching will soon reshape itself taking advantage of this hub, etc. Exciting times!
So what should you do? A good email to me – the address hanna.kokko at uzh.ch works for now – would have the usual attachments: CV, publications, perhaps some examples of papers/manuscripts you’re proud of… and also a brief, up to 1 page, description of what sort of research themes and approaches would interest you (don’t just copy-paste what’s on this website, show instead your own thoughts). Our interests are quite broad, and we appreciate complementary approaches to eco-evo questions, so don’t hesitate!
